An excellent, hard rocking sophomore effort from the great Black Keys duo. With only two members, you really have to know when to kick it up a notch, and provide some power. These two guys play seamlessly. I listen to this album literally every day.
This CD is for anyone who likes blues and rock. The songs are great and get you feeling good.
This is another great one by the Black Keys. I have recommended them to so many friends and they have all loved them as much as I do.
This album should be required listening for fans of Indie/Blues/Hendrix. However, The Black Keys stay on task in their tunes, not wandering off into solo bridges/riffs to the extent that Jimi did. Bubbling with energy, this is an album which will have you bobbing your head while you drive. Simple in composition, it's very reminiscent of early Hendrix stuff both in overdriven single-coil pickup guitar, vocals and musicality. There are occasions where the mix quality is a bit lacking (going to tablature sites, even those submitting lyrics for this group are unsure of what they are saying in some tunes)but they make up for it in simple grind and forward momentum. It's not a fancy album, very little overdubbing or effects, and that is what adds to its charm. I have a couple of other Black Keys CDs and this stands out as one of their best.
The formidable indie-blues-rock duo eased into their stride with this sophomore release, a highly solid collection of deceptively simple, reverb-soaked ditties. By any means it shouldn't sound as authentic as it does, but for some reason the group is just able to tap into old southern rock attacks with a natural grace unfamiliar to a vast majority of modern artists.
